“Listen to your life”…they are the words of Frederick Buechner that I read and think about on a daily basis. Being in Spiritual Direction and taking a year to focus on my heart, rather than my head connection to God has been the greatest gift I have ever received. God is sitting with us, walking with us, sleeping with us every moment of every day. He is talking to us, guiding us, and rejoicing with us every minute. These past couple of weeks I was able to stop and listen, to see, to experience…and to live from the heart, as I listened to God and to my life. As I look through my journal, I feel overwhelmed at all the conversations we had, at all the wise words, guidance, and support the Lord offered me. I had to do nothing but follow His lead. And His hand lead me to the most beautiful experiences. Keep reading this week and I’ll be posting some of those experiences. In the meantime, ponder Buechner…it’s a great way to start your own spiritual journey.
Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom and the pain of it no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace.
